Delegate Presentation Guideline
1. YOUR FORMAL PRESENTATION TO THE FULL GROUPYou will have approximately 10 minutes to make a presentation to the entire group of conference participants (investors, other delegates, media people, and so forth)
Please see the following details which we would like to highlight with regards to your presentation:
- You will present from a lectern
- There will be a hard wired microphone on the lectern, which you will speak into
- You can advance the PowerPoint slides yourself from the lectern while you speak
- You will have approximately 10 minutes to present, in addition you will have a short introduction from Mr Kevin Mulcahy, the UCI conference chair
- There will be the facility to show a video on dvd if you choose to
- Indicate that most of the groundwork is done, and that the opportunity is now ready for investment or joint venture
- Give some indication of the potential upside and exit strategy for the investor or the potential partner (but you don’t need to give details, they can come later)
- Give some indication as to why this is a special opportunity/market
- Give some assurance that outside investors/partners will be able to monitor the project/fund and will be able to protect their investment in some reasonable way (again, there is no time for detail on these points, but you should touch on them)
- Show your passion for the project/opportunity/fund, but also show that you have a mature, educated, reliable management team
- Give an idea of all past projects/deals completed by your company
Whoever presents for your team should be able to speak comfortably and clearly in English. Also, to maximize effectiveness and show the skills of your team, the presenter should speak, not just read, the presentation.
Overall, the most important thing to remember for the group presentation is to stay away from small detail: there is plenty of time for that later. In the group presentation, you want to convey only the “big picture” and the high-level concepts, and give some idea of the upside, exit strategy, and your professionalism as a team.
Specifics UCI require from you as soon as possible:
- PowerPoint presentation you will be presenting. Please ensure you include your name, title, company and logo on the first slide. The deadline for me receiving this is Thursday 26st March 2009.
- Confirmation as to whether you will be showing any videos, the duration, and where they will be going in your presentation, so we can cue this at the correct time for you.
- Confirm that it will be you presenting. If there are any additional people presenting with you, or in your place then please advise accordingly, so we can make any appropriate technical arrangements required
- Short summary of your presentation. Absolute deadline Thursday 19th March 09. (One paragraph to maximum up to one A4 page. All summaries received on time will be sent to investors).
2. INFORMAL MEETINGS AT BREAKS AND OTHER TIMES DURING THE CONFERENCE
While at the conference, you and your colleagues should be prepared for quick spontaneous meetings with potential investors/business leaders during breaks and other times. All the guidelines listed above apply to these informal, but important, meetings.
In the informal meetings, it is particularly important for you to be able to quickly express what the nature of your opportunity. (In the US and UK, we call this “The Elevator Pitch” because you should be able to communicate the nature of your opportunity during a brief elevator ride.)
3. FOLL0W-UP MEETINGS
Even now, before the conference, you should be thinking about information you may want to have ready for certain investors/business leaders after the conference. When you get a spark of interest from an investor, business leader or potential client, you should be able to follow-up quickly with that investor. The UCI management team will be happy to speak with you further about how to maximize your follow-up opportunities.
We hope this information is helpful to you. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions on your participation and may we wish you the best of luck!
